Log dumps everywhere! Central Highlands, 2001.

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for stupidity

When we conducted a "community policing raid" on the offices of Midways Forest Products the "other" police turned up. Given that we were painted as the villains and terrorists, we wonder why they're so sheepish. Protecting the real crims is a tough business but someones go to do it?

The long arm of the law arrives at an occupation. Don't be shy boys

"Are you sure this is the right office?"

With a log truck bearing down on him, this activist would be justified in questioning his own sanity. The forests (in this case the Otways) are no place for the faint-hearted.

Maybe I shouldn't have locked on.

"Knowing how concerned you are with environmental standards we'd like to offer you a drink from the creek where your company is logging."

Roger Pescott, a minister in the Kennett Government in the 90's partly owned a company that was logging in the Central Highlands. Despite the governments failure to ensure sound land management FoE was successful in civil litigation against this minister who retired soon after.

This action highlighted the water pollution caused by his logging operation. Several towns were expected to drink the brown muck you see in these photo's.

"Why thank you."

Ah yes, pine and plantations. The answer to all our problems...not.

Some groups think plantations are the answer to environmental problems. We dont believe this sytem of death and destruction is any better than the other one. It's kind of like shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic....it's about consumption stupid.

Another example of human folly in the Otways
